Club Championships 2022

Saturday 18th June 2022 saw the annual Club Championships take place. Initially conditions seemed favourable with the sun shining and a gentle breeze, however this soon changed with heavy showers the breeze becoming more of a strong wind. Challenging weather, plus play from the black tees, made this a very tough day for all participating. Alice Webb-Wilson and Alexandra Phelps led the field out and set the benchmark for the following men. Stand out morning performance was from James Richards who shot a level par 70, which was 4 shots clear of Peter Jackson and David Tarbotton both shooting 74.

A beautiful lunch and the weather turning for the worse made the afternoon conditions even more difficult. James White posted the best afternoon score of 73, however this was not enough as Jack Scott's afternoon 74 and Peter Jackson's 75 left them tied on a total of 149 for the day. Martin Hamilton was very close behind on a total of 150.

As the sideways rain continued, Jack Scott and Peter Jackson started their play-off from the 1st hole with the rest of the field spectating. Both players made par on the first hole so moving onto the newly renovated second hole became a true test of golf given the conditions. With Jack missing the green to the left and Peter to the right, it became a game of who could get up and down. Both players put their second shots to about 8 feet and with Peter narrowly missing his putt for par, Jack had a chance to make par and claim victory which he did. Huge Congratulations to Jack Scott!
